Effat University is a leading private non-profit institution of higher education for women in Saudi Arabia, operating under the umbrella of King Faisal’s Charitable Foundation.

Effat University is strengthened by the legacy of its founder, Queen Effat Al- Thunayyan Al-Saud, wife of the late King Faisal Bin AbdulAziz (May God rest their souls) in 1999, offering its academic programs in 1999/ 2000 under the name of Effat College. The inauguration of the three Colleges and the establishment of the Research and Consultancy Institute in addition to the success achieved on the academic, educational and social levels, paved the way to becoming a University as per the Royal Decree on the 30th of January, 2009.

After earning the university status, Effat University launched the first masters of its kind in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia which is the Executive Master for Islamic Financial Management (XIFM). XIFM aims to answer the needs of the Islamic Finance industry and to educate the new generation of Islamic financial managers.  Throughout this degree, students learn how to assess the specific risks of Conventional and Islamic Finance and evaluate their instruments to be able to adopt the most effective decision.


Based on the need of the Saudi market, Effat University is preparing to launch an MBA program in collaboration with IE Business School. This MBA provides all the ingredients for professional success in business management and entrepreneurship and the program content takes into consideration Saudi Arabia and the regional elements. By combining the unique strengths of the two institutions (IE and Effat University), the program offers excellent teaching by international faculty and discussions with local experts from the industry.


In addition, Effat other professional centres and academic departments aim to provide Effat students and the community lifelong learning and development opportunities; these units include the Centre of Excellence in Teaching and Learning, the Counselling Centre, Quality Assurance Unit, Effat English Academy, and Research and Consultancy Institute. As the Regional academy of Cisco Networking and Microsoft, Effat University offers a range of courses and diplomas in networking and computer.

 


Effat University offers continuing education through its Executive Education and Community Services Institute.  This Institute aims to provide the community with diverse international standard lifelong learning opportunities to expand the horizons of future leading individuals with academic and non-academic skills in their different area of specialty. Among its centres is the Foreign Languages Centre that provides women in the community with a valuable opportunity to learn and improve their skills in a variety of languages. Through this centre, Effat University offers the French Language and Civilization Diploma in collaboration with the Cours de Civilisation Française de la Sorbonne (CCFS) in Paris and the support of the French General Consulate in Jeddah. Moreover, the Institute provides training for local and international examinations such as SAT, iBT TOEFL, GRE, GMAT, IGCSE, and IELTS.

 

Besides, Effat University built strong relationships and agreements with very well-established national and international institutions and universities. These agreements are made as a gesture of goodwill by these institutions that support Effat’s unique social, academic and professional excellence. Among its renowned partners are: KAUST, Duke University, University of Miami, Paris Malaquais, Mount Holyoke College, Carnegie Mellon University, Tokai University in Japan and University of Cincinnati.
