WINNERS ANNOUNCED FOR 1426H - 2006G
KING FAISAL INTERNATIONAL PRIZE for Science Riyadh, 25 Dhu Al-Qa'dah - 27 December 2005, HRH Prince Khalid Al-Faisal, Director of King Faisal Foundation, tonight announced the winners of the King Faisal International Prize. The prize for Science (Topic: Mathematics) has been awarded jointly to:
 |  | President of the Institute of Mathematical Sciences, and Professor of Mathematics at Imperial College, London | Honorary Fellow, Tata Institute of Fundamental Research in India |
for their seminal contributions to theories which have strengthened the links between mathematics and physics, and helped provide a rigorous foundation for physical theories giving a very good description of the laws of matter at the sub-nuclear level. This has helped establish strong ties with the formulation of quantum chromodynamics for which the King Faisal Prize was given last year (in physics).
