The UPP Mission

As preparation for learning at the university level, the UPP trains students in a stimulating academic environment to become life-long learners, critical thinkers, and problem solvers able to succeed in institutions of higher learning. The King Faisal Foundation UPP provides high school graduates a rigorous academic preparation to succeed in higher education both the Kingdom and abroad.

The UPP is a challenging program of study designed for highly motivated students. As a ‘student centered’ program the UPP supports decision making, leadership skills and experiential learning in a variety of social clubs, team and individual sports, and social activities.

The international experience of the faculty enhances and inspires student learning through skill acquisition and the ability to function independently in an English language environment. Managed by AMIDEAST, a U.S.-based organization, the UPP prepares students to attempt standardized tests such as SAT I, SAT II, TOEIC, TOEFL, and advanced subjects exams.

Curriculum Design

The curriculum provides the highest academic quality study in English, Math and Science within the religious, social and cultural norms of Saudi Arabia. At the UPP, students can experience multicultural diversity in education and learn in an environment in which the teachers are ready to work with students to cultivate their learning and growth.

The curriculum requires all students to study English language. The level of the Math and Science courses depends on both the student’s ability and the pathway that a student follows: Medicine, Engineering, or Business.  Subject content challenges students to question their knowledge and learn content and build skills to prepare them for university studies.

Facilities and Resources

The UPP is currently located in the beautiful, state-of-the art, wireless campus of Alfaisal University in the Maather area of Riyadh. Program facilities include an Academic Resource Center (ARC), science and computer laboratories, classrooms fitted with Smartboards and other advanced computer technologies, and variety of resources to support teaching and learning.

 

Program Highlights

  • An annual course program divided into a series of terms, with learning outcomes that match the language proficiency of the student
  • TOEIC and TOEFL exams used to monitor progress and set individual learning goals
  • Curriculum that includes Math & Science as well as English
  • A General Courses Program that allows students of lower proficiencies the ability to continue with their Program studies.
  • An intermediate and advanced level program is offered for students in preparation for study at the university level.
